Come and enjoy three original one act plays, written and directed by our members
"Flaming Barrels"
Written by Chelle Walsh
Directed by Chelle Walsh & Amy Housden
Music recorded by Morgan Perry
Ottery St Mary, 1898. Mary shares her tale of hardship and loss as we walk with her through a troubled childhood. After losing her parents, Mary’s youth is snatched away as she works from dawn until dusk with other orphans in a dark, miserable workhouse. Tragedy strikes again when she’s parted from her first love to WW1. But with no hope in sight, will there be a happy ending? Sit back, grab a Kleenex, and let us take you back in time… first stop, the 70’s!
"Devonshire Ramblings"
Written by Anne Dalton
Directed by Ali Owen
Have you ever joined a rambling group and have you ever wondered how they decide on the routes to be enjoyed? Let us go to a local East Devon Cafe where we can eavesdrop on the planning process. What are the thought processes of the different characters? What do they deem to be important so that you can enjoy the planned rambles? Where do they get their information about the routes? So ladies and gentlemen... boots on, pack your rucksacks, and prepare for the trek!
"Utter Poppycock"
Written & Directed by Chelle Walsh
Utter Poppycock is the sequel to The Playground and reunites Erica and Bronnie on Royal Ascot’s Ladies Day.
Dressed to the nines, and over a G & T or two, our thoroughbreds have some serious catching up to do. One is troubled, the other hides a dark secret… but which lady will come up trumps and win the race? Place your bets, pop open the fizz and cheer on your favourite, in this snobbish spectacle of a one-act play.
